I.H.M., principal of Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, is pleased to announced that 20 students in the senior class have scored 600 or above on the math, reading and writing sections of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). That averages out to 20 percent of the class of 2011.The College Board states that the SAT measures literacy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college. It also states that the SATs assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems skills they learned in school that they will need in college. The SAT is typically taken by high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.Students who scored 600 or better on the math portion of the test were as follows: Nina Arant (600), Evan Bellizia (630), Brandon Dopira (750), Gillian Ferko (610), Robert Kelly (700), Gino Kociolek (710), Jessica McKinley (630), Joseph Meier (670), Emily Nerino (610), Justin Petrovich (610), Megan Rubino (610), Connor Schleicher (640), Rose Sheridan (660), Lydia Stianchie (660) and Victoria Vadyak (620).Students who scored 600 or better in reading were as follows: Evan Bellizia (600), Brandon Dopira (620), Laura Hoffman (700), Joseph Meier (670), Emily Nerino (620), Rose Sheridan (750), Lydia Stianchie (650), Victoria Vadyak (710) and Christine Valente (650).Students who scored 600 or better in writing were as follows: Brandon Dopira (680), Laura Hoffman (610), Eric Petterson (610), Megan Rubino (680), Rose Sheridan (720), Lydia Stianchie (610), Victoria Vadyak (750), Christine Valente (650), Taylor Mele (610) and Michael Nesgoda (620).Four students at Marian scored 600 or better in all three sections: Brandon Dopira, Rose Sheridan, Lydia Stianchie, Victoria Vadyak.
