Now is the time of the year when feeding stations really come alive with birds of all shapes, colors and sizes. This male rose breasted grosbeak was spotted at a group of bird feeders in West Penn township recently enjoying himself on several tubes of oiled sunflower seeds. This bird will never turn down a good meal of insects or fruits as well. Although this grosbeak enjoys most of central northern United States and the southern portions of Canada for the summer months it spends its winters as far away as the West Indies, Mexico and South America.
