A portion of Route 209 in Franklin Township was shut down after a vehicle dumped an unknown substance along the busy roadway Sunday afternoon. Township police were forced to close one of the two northbound lanes following the incident, which occurred just before 2 p.m. Members of the township's fire company washed the substance from the roadway, while township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
