March 18, 2006 Marian's Kristen Shickora wins a gold medal at the state swimming meet while three Panther Valley athletes also place at the annual competition. Shickora earns her title in the 100-yard backstroke and sets a new state record in the process. The sophomore captures her gold by finishing in a time of 55.64. The Panthers' Allysa Vavra takes second in the 100 breaststroke while teammate Amanda Terray ties for second in the 100 back. PV's Sami Vavra earns a ninth place in the 100 breast.
