St. John's Worship service on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. Sunday School at 10:15 a.m.Blessing of Animals Service on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2 p.m. The Blessing of Animals invites all creatures, great and small for an individual blessing from the Rev. Dody Freed. The Blessing of Animals is generally held on the first Sunday of October in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the early champion of animals. Rev. Freed will do a hands-on blessing to every creature attending. Participants must be on a lead or in carriers and fully controlled and monitored by their human escorts.The general public is welcome to attend. The service will be held in the church parking lot. A free will offering, either monetary or food will be collected to benefit the local animal shelters The Carbon County Friends of Animals and the Carbon County Canine Patrol. St. John's is located at 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton.
