More charges for threats to judge

A man accused of making threats against state police at Lehighton has now been charged with harassing two others in 2015.

One of the alleged victims is a Northampton County judge.John Large, 52, formerly of Lansford, was arraigned on charges Monday, this time in district court in Northampton County.Last week, he was in court in Palmerton in regard to alleged threats made against state police and his ex-wife in 2016.In Northampton County, he faces charges in connection with threatening phone calls made to a Bethlehem woman as well as a Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano.According to a criminal complaint, Large made harassing phone calls to a woman around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, 2015. He threatened the woman’s life.Police obtained the number from the call and matched it with Large’s cellphone.Large was arrested in 2014 for recording the same woman, according to police.Police said that on Dec. 21, 2015, Large called Giordano at his home around 1 a.m. and threatened to “declare war on the Pennsylvania judicial system,” starting with Giordano.Police reported the number used to make the call to AT&T, which confirmed it belonged to Large.He faces a charge of making terroristic threats, as well as a felony charge in the case where he called the judge.He was arraigned Tuesday, with bail being set at $50,000 in each case.Large, who was jailed in Vermont for more than a year awaiting extradition, is still awaiting a preliminary hearing in the cases which occurred in Carbon County.He is locked up at Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $225,000 total bail in those cases.
