Carbon County commissioners on Thursday approved a number of new hires, including eight part-time corrections officers for the county prison in Nesquehoning.

All start their jobs on Aug. 28.The officers will earn $11.60 an hour. They are Christian N. Bernstein-Cuevas, Debra J. Evans and Kaisy K. Valdez, all of Nesquehoning; Brian R. Hay, Coaldale; Cody H. Karaman, Saylorsburg; Amanda C. Loudon, Lehighton; Kyle B. Minzola, Tresckow; and Abigail V. Ross, Bath.Commissioners also appointed Dawn T. Antignani, Jim Thorpe, as a part-time automation clerk in the Bureau of Collections at $9.54 an hour.And they hired Michelle L. Clarke, Weatherly, as a temporary clerk in archives at $8 an hour.
