Northwestern posted wins in both baseball and softball on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

Catasauqua-N’western

Tyler Wiik hit a home run and Drew White gained the pitching win, as Northwestern posted a 5-1 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Wiik homered during a three-run third inning to help the Tigers (2-0, 2-0) extend a narrow lead.

White tossed five innings, allowing just four hits and one run, while striking out two. Noah Russo threw two scoreless innings in relief to preserve the win.

Northwestern’s Mason Vogwill and Rafe Perich each contributed two hits.

Salisbury-No. Lehigh

Andrew Sukanick pitched a two-hit shutout to lead Salisbury to a 3-0 Colonial League win over Northern Lehigh.

Sukanick struck out 16 batters and didn’t walk any in a dazzling performance.

Taylor Linn and Joey Galantini each had two hits and scored a run for the Falcons.

Brandon Hess and Aaron Rudolph had the only hits for the Bulldogs (0-2, 0-1),

SOFTBALL

Catasauqua-N’western

Northwestern jumped out to a quick lead and coasted to a 16-1 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

The Tigers (2-0; 2-0) scored seven times in the first inning and tacked on five more runs in the second frame.

Sam Sisco had two hits and knocked in three runs for the winners, while Ashley Sisco added a pair of hits, one a triple, and scored three times. The Tigers also received a two-run homer off the bat of Kayla Mitman.

TENNIS

Palmerton-So. Lehigh

Palmerton dropped a 3-1 Colonial League decision to Southern Lehigh.

Mattis Willuhn, at No. 2 singles, produced the only win for the Blue Bombers (3-4) with a straight-set victory.

The No.1 singles match wasn’t completed because of conditions. The Bombers’ Nate Andress split the first two sets, with both of them going to a tie-breaker.
