Coaldale man given state prison term for burglary
Five area defendants were among 12 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.
Gary M. Heller, 51, of 222 W. Earley Ave., Coaldale, on a charge of burglary at the home of Rodney and Sara Clouser, 144 Sixth St., Coaldale, was sentenced to serve three to six years in a state correctional institution. He was ordered to report to Sheriff Joseph Groody on Wednesday, May 25, at 9. a.m. to be transported to a state facility. He was given credit for spending 20 days in the county prison.He also has to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), and make restitution of $200 to the victims. Heller was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer.Briana Natasha Koschak, 21, of 307 Ridge Terrace, Coaldale, on a charge of theft was given credit for serving 14 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. She was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca.Mark Andrew Mumich, 31, of 11 School House Road, Sheppton, East Union Township, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison effective Friday, May 20, at 9 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete alcohol highway safe driving school and driver's license suspended 12 months. Mumich was cited by Trooper Paul Hardnock when stopped on SR924 in Sheppton.Terrance James Osenbach, 29, of 1884 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison effective Friday, May 27, at 10 a.m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete safety school, receive intensive outpatient counseling and license suspended 12 months. On a charge of a driver required to be licensed was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Osenbach was cited by Trooper Timothy Keating when stopped on School Street in West Penn Township.Mary Ruth Ramsey, 19, of 233 W. Patterson St., Lansford, on a DUI charge was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison but received credit for spending 17 days in prison and was placed on parole for six months, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, receive outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months. On summary charges of driving while operating privileges were suspended was fined $200 and for careless driving fined $25 plus $100 in costs. Ramsey was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse.Crystal Sherry Luscan, 38, Shenandoah, on a charge of criminal mischief to the front window of the Thunder Road Bar, Shenandoah, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $870 to Robert Babarsky, owner of the bar.Angelo Maldonado, 20, Mahanoy City, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Charles Blesse.Devon Michael Shaak, 20, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was given credit for serving four days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Shaak was cited by Minersville Patrolman Richard C. Clink.Nathanial Paul Shea, 28, Girardville, on a charge of possession of a prohibitive weapon was placed on probation for 18 months and on charges of possession of a controlled substance (CS) and possession of drug paraphernalia received concurrent 12 months probation sentences on each charge. He also must pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. On a charge of driving while his license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Shea was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey.Joshua Michael Tassone, 21, Pottsville, on a charge of corruption of minors was placed on probation 18 months and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of selling or furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors was fined $1,000 and given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence. On a charge of underage drinking was fined $100. Tassone was cited by Pottsville Sgt. James R. Joos.Christopher Wessner, 35, Pine Grove, on a charge of terroristic threats by telephone to assistant principal at Pine Grove Area High School, was placed on probation for 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of harassment received a concurrent 12 months probation sentence. Wessner was cited by Pine Grove Det. Thomas Trotter.James Andrew Whitman, 21, Lykens, Dauphin County, on a charge of receiving a motorcycle stolen from the garage of Todd Noll, 110 S. Fifth St., Tower City, was placed on probation 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
