Panther Valley's school board has filled a vacancy left by former President Anthony DeMarco, who resigned from the board last month.
Justin Foster, of Summit Hill, was chosen to temporarily fill DeMarco's seat on the board.DeMarco resigned last month, citing changes to his work schedule. He stepped down as board president earlier this year, after serving since 2015.Foster, a 2000 Panther Valley graduate, was one of three candidates interviewed by the board before the meeting Thursday night.He said after the meeting that he decided to apply because he grew up in the area, and hopes that the level of pride in the school district can be more like it was when he attended."I grew up here, I graduated from here, so I figured I would try to make it back to the way it was," he said.Foster is a landlord to multiple properties in the Carbon County area. He said that his experience handling the finances and everyday issues with his properties will prepare him to be a school director.He also has a child in the school system, a daughter who is currently in third grade.
