Jim Thorpe School Board approved the following items this week:

• A police services contract with the borough of Jim Thorpe, effective through June 30, 2018, at the rate of $73.83 per hour, per officer, on an as-needed basis.• A contract with CSiIntegrated Security and Communications to upgrade the school's gym/auditorium sound system. The new system will be able to accommodate general assembly and stage use, which is best for plays, band performances, talent shows and more. According to the proposal, equipment costs and ancillary services will amount to $22,242.• Director of special education Brian Baddick's resignation was approved, along with the posting of an open position for a director of special education.• Resignation of paraprofessional Tanya Hess.• The posting of two open positions for long-term substitute teachers, as well as two paraprofessionals.• Amanda Melber was approved for a special education internship at Lehigh Carbon Community College for the fall of 2017.- Brian Myszkowski
