Local Roundup: Results from April 24
Palmerton, Tamaqua and Marian all posted wins in baseball and softball on Thursday, while Pleasant Valley earned victories in softball and girls lacrosse.
Elsewhere, Northern Lehigh’s baseball team pulled off an upset over Saucon Valley.
Also posting a win was Northwestern’s softball squad.
BASEBALL

Northern Lehigh pulled off its biggest win of the season, upsetting the Colonial League’s top team Saucon Valley by an 8-7 score.
The Bulldogs used a four-run fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5. After the Panthers took a one-run lead in the home fifth, Nolehi came back with three in the sixth to take its first advantage. Saucon rallied in the seventh, cutting the margin to one and putting runners on second and third, but Connor Simms recorded a strikeout to end the game.
Simms had two hits and scored three runs for the winners, while Braydon Buskirk and Parker Schaeffer both finished with a pair of hits and two runs. Schaeffer also knocked in two runs, including the go-ahead score on a double, while Buskirk added an RBI. Braedon Dougherty chipped in with two hits.
Simms allowed one earned run in 3 2/3 innings and struck out four as Nolehi improved to 5-2 in its last seven games.

Palmerton-Jim Thorpe
In a well-pitched Colonial League contest, Palmerton pulled out a 3-1 victory over Jim Thorpe.
Winning hurler Brady Reph allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out two in his five innings of work. Olympian pitcher Nik Schwartz went the distance, giving up just four hits and two walks while fanning five.
The Blue Bombers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an error, and added two more in the sixth on RBI singles from Reph and Mason George.
Thorpe rallied in the seventh, scoring one run on singles by Tanner MoDavis, Kade Hess and Noah Pastor, but Palmerton turned a double play to end the threat and record its third straight win, and fifth in its last six games.
Palmerton’s AJ Borger finished with a hit, two walks and two runs.

Shenandoah Valley-Marian
Marian jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 12-3 Schuylkill League victory over Shenandoah Valley.
The win clinched a district playoff berth for the Colts, and aided their position for a league playoff berth.
Rocco Griguoli had two hits, both doubles, and knocked in four runs for the winners, who moved into the top wildcard spot in Division 2.
Marian, which led 8-0 after three innings, also received two hits and three RBIs from Chase Grier, while Alex Diaz reached base three times with a hit and two walks, and scored two runs.
Cole Defrancisco earned the win, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven in five innings.

Conrad Weiser-Tamaqua
Tamaqua pounded out 16 hits and outscored non-league opponent Conrad Weiser 13-9 for its seventh straight win.
Luke Kane paced the Blue Raiders offense, reaching base five times with three hits — two of them doubles — and two walks. Kane scored four runs and knocked in three.
Maximus Najarro and Brayden Witkowski both collected three hits and two RBIs for the winners, who took the lead with a four-run second inning and tacked on five more in the third.
Tamaqua also received a pair of hits from Noah Mateyak, while Mason Ligenza and Jake Yenser each added a hit and three runs.

Cody Boehmer had three hits and knocked in five runs to help Williams Valley roll to a 22-3 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.
The Vikings, who put the game out of reach with a 14-run second inning, also received three hits, three runs and two RBIs from Noah Mihalick, while Evan Achenbach finished with a pair of hits, three runs and three RBIs.
For the Wreckers, Kameron Jacoby collected a pair of hits and an RBI. Joey Esposito and Kyle Reiner both added a hit and an RBI.

Palmerton-Jim Thorpe
Palmerton scored in every inning to gain a 15-3 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
The Bombers’ Leah Prutzman finished 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, while Mackenzie Ferber added a pair of hits, two runs and two RBIs. One of Prutzman’s hits was a two-run homer.
For the Olympians, Ryah Confer had a hit and two RBIs.

Northwestern remained undefeated in Colonial League play as the Tigers blanked Lehighton 10-0.
The Tigers’ Emma Freeman pitched a one-hitter and walked one while striking out 15.
Abby Dunstan collected three hits, all for extra bases, ending with two doubles and a triple. She added two runs and three RBIs.
Northwestern leadoff hitter Riley McGinley chipped in with three singles, two runs and an RBI.
Eryn Mertz broke up Freeman’s no-hit bid in the fifth inning with a single to right field.

Saucon Valley stretched its winning streak to three games, as the Panthers handed Northern Lehigh a 4-1 Colonial League setback.
Matty Seyfried went the distance in the circle for the Panthers, allowing just an unearned run and no walks while striking out 14.
Kylee Snyder had a pair of hits for the Bulldogs, one of them a double.

Kailyn Getz and Maddie Abbatiello combined for a one-hitter as Pleasant Valley rolled to a 16-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over East Stroudsburg North.
The Bears pounded out 21 hits, including 10 during a 10-run sixth inning. Seven of those hits went for extra bases — five triples and two doubles.
Lydia Borger had two triples, one with the bases loaded and another scored a run. Allison Borger and Jovie Valenzuela both added run-scoring three-base hits.
Allison Borger finished 4-for-4 with three singles, a triple, three runs and an RBI, while Katie VanSchoyck contributed a two-run double and Brianca Pridham chipped in with an RBI double.

Tamaqua ended a three-game losing skid with a convincing 18-2 Schuylkill League victory over Lourdes.
Nico Conahan had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate, ending with four singles, two runs and three RBIs, while Megan Linkhorst added a double, two runs and three RBIs.
Peyton Faust allowed just one hit, walked two and struck out six in the four-inning contest.

Hailey Treskolasky knocked in five runs with a double and homer to help Marian secure a 16-1 Schuylkill League victory over Shenandoah Valley.
The Fillies scored 12 runs in the first inning en route to their third straight win.
Malina Letcher added a triple and a home run, scoring twice and collecting three RBIs, while Delaney Erickson finished with two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Danica Karlick also contributed a pair of hits and scored two runs.

Olivia Jones struck out nine, walked none, and only allowed a single hit in five innings to earn the win.
Jones also helped her own cause with a single, double, triple and four RBIs.
Kyla McQuillen led off the game with the Panthers’ only hit. McQuillen also hit a sacrifice fly to plate Myla Krapf in the fifth inning, while Caroline Breslin added an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

Cierra Brill had two doubles, scored three runs and had four RBIs to lead the winners offensively.

Pleasant Valley matched a season-high in goals as the Bears posted an 18-7 EPC victory over Freedom.
Devon Bush and Rylee Rath both scored five goals for the winners, with Bush also adding a pair of assists.
PV, which matched the 18 goals it scored against Moravian Academy on March 20, also received three goals from Olivia Iandoli, and two each from Brielle Halamar and Peyton Knecht.

Sean McPeek scored six goals to help Easton post a 14-5 win over Northwestern.
The Rovers, who have won seven of their 14 games by double digits, also received two goals from Evan Placotoris.
For the Tigers, Tyler Kaas and Kendall Wikert both tallied twice, while Wikert added an assist. Braydon Uricchio added a goal and two helpers.

Steven Walter, Zane Kromer and Marsh accounted for PV’s goals.
