Northwestern posted wins in three sports on Tuesday.

The Tigers gained victories in baseball, softball and boys lacrosse.

Marian also triumphed in both baseball and softball.

BASEBALL

Jim Thorpe-Northwestern

Northwestern pulled out a wild 14-13 Colonial League victory over visiting Jim Thorpe.

After being upset by Pen Argyl on Monday, the Tigers almost lost a second straight contest but rallied for the win.

Nolan Fitzgerald (two singles, run scored) and Brady Zimmerman (two singles, two runs) both had multiple hits for Northwestern, which trailed 5-0 before even coming to bat and 11-6 midway through the game.

Watson Church blasted a three-run homer for the Tigers, who scored five times in the sixth to take their first lead. Church finished with two runs, two walks and four RBIs.

Nikolas Schwartz paced Thorpe with a three-hit day, which included two doubles, a single, two runs and two RBIs.

Cole Lazorick, the Olympians’ leadoff hitter, ended with three singles, three runs and an RBI.

Northern Lehigh erupted for 10 runs in the opening inning to cruise to a 14-2 Colonial League victory over visiting Catasauqua.

Both Parker Schaffer and Braedon Dougherty sparked the first-frame uprising with RBI doubles.

Dougherty finished with two doubles, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Connor Simms reached base three times with a hit and two walks, and scored twice, while Jayden Christman added a hit, two runs and two RBIs.

Palisades-Palmerton

Another strong pitching performance from Cameron Pengelly helped Palmerton gain a 10-3 Colonial League victory over Palisades.

Pengelly went the distance for the Blue Bombers, striking out nine while walking two and allowing just two hits and no earned runs.

Jason Carelli, the Bombers’ leadoff hitter, led the way offensively with two singles, a run and an RBI. Luke Matsko added two singles and two runs scored, while Greyson Ahner ended up with a double and three RBIs.

Palmerton, winners of four of its last five games, also received a hit and two runs from both Mason George and Alex Keiper.

Tamaqua remained tied for first place in Schuylkill League Division 1 with an 8-6 victory over Pine Grove.

Noah Mateyak had two hits, one a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Blue Raiders, who trailed in the third before scoring five unanswered runs to go ahead for good.

Luke Kane added a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Cooper Ansbach and Mason Ligenza both walked three times and scored two runs.

Tamaqua, tied with Blue Mountain at 7-1 in the league, also received a hit and two RBIs from Landon Kamant.

Jacob Hatter paced the Cardinals with two singles, two runs and an RBI.

In Schuylkill League action, Marian rolled to a 29-1 win over Weatherly.

The Colts collected nine hits and took advantage of 10 Wrecker errors to reach the .500 mark overall.

Tyler Rebarchak finished with five RBIs and three runs for Marian, while Alex Diaz contributed two singles, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Rocco Griguoli, the game’s winning pitcher, added a pair of hits, two runs and knocked in three runs. Nolan Marsch and Jason Ashfield each added four runs scored.

Braeden Doyle pitched a three-hit shutout to lead Tri-Valley to a 9-0 Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.

Doyle walked just one and struck out six during his 79-pitch performance.

The Bulldogs received two hits and two runs from both Owen Miller and Gavin Klock, while Jason Stewart walked three times and scored three runs.

PV’s hits came from Logan Fisher, Connor Penberth and Kaden Koerbler.

In Colonial League action, Saucon Valley pulled out a narrow 2-1 victory over Lehighton.

Noah Hubert accounted for the Panthers’ two runs with a two-run double in the third inning that scored both Cole Hubert and Matt Chaffier.

The Indians managed a run in the sixth on a Cole Dietz RBI single that plated Cody Snyder.

Dietz (two singles) and Jake Lewis (two singles) both had multiple hits for Lehighton.

Jim Thorpe-Northwestern

Lizzie Diehl struck out 13, and only allowed one run on three hits to help Northwestern defeat Jim Thorpe 4-1 in Colonial League action.

The Tigers broke the ice in the first for a 1-0 lead that held until Gloria Strohl used a bunt to tie the game for the Olympians in the fourth.

In the fifth, the Tigers went ahead permanently with a three-run frame, including an RBI double from Rylee McGinley.

McGinley collected three hits in the contest, while Natalie Conner finished with two hits and a pair of walks. Avery Seyler also chipped in with two hits.

Thorpe received a hit and a run from Mara Levins.

Karlye Teman had 12 strikeouts in a complete game win as part of an 11-4 Palisades Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

With the Bombers trailing 3-2 after four innings, the Pirates put the game out of reach with a seven-run fifth, which included a two-run error and RBI singles from Erin Wallbillich, Julianna Hershey, and Jordyn Bonelli.

Hailey Barry paced Palmerton with three hits, while Grace Schneider and Molly Binder both had a hit and two RBIs.

Matty Seyfried struck out 12 batters during a three-hit shutout over Lehighton to give Saucon Valley a 15-0 Colonial League win at Pates Park.

Eliza Sullivan led the Panthers, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Seyfried and Kaylie Scorce each added two RBIs.

Lehighton received a pair of hits from Makayla Scott.

Malina Letcher went 4-for-4 with seven RBIs and three runs scored to help give Marian a 23-0 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.

Seven other Fillies contributed offensively, including Maggie Turrano and Danica Karlick with three RBIs each.

Kayla Birrer struck out six Wrecker batters and allowed just one hit over three innings.

Pine Grove jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and never looked back en route to a 9-2 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.

The Raiders responded with two runs in the second on a two-run home run from Addison Krall, but the Cardinals added four runs in the fourth and one in the seventh.

Madison Shiffer went 3-for-4 for the winners with four RBIs and two runs scored, while Lily Flynn plated three RBIs with a 2-for-4 outing.

Tamaqua received a pair of hits from Ceanna Gormley.

Tyler Kaas scored four goals to help Northwestern gain a 10-8 victory over Freedom.

The Tigers also received two goals and two assists from Michael Lagowy, while Kendall Wikert added a pair of goals and a helper. Braydon Uricchio also chipped in with a goal and an assist for the winners.
