For only the eighth time in the last 40 years, a woman has been chosen to receive the prized Tamaqua Citizenship Award.

Pat Freeh-Stefanek, Tamaqua, has been selected to receive the award from the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tamaqua Industrial Development Enterprises.

Over the years, Freeh-Stefanek has amassed an outstanding record of service to the community through participation on various boards and committees, starting in the 1970s.

She is the current chairperson of the Tamaqua Area 2004 Partnership and was one of the first women elected to Tamaqua Borough Council; a founding member of the Tamaqua Beautification Association; has been active in Tamaqua Area bloodmobiles; and is a member of the Tamaqua Historical Society.
