State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police were called to a business on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township at 4:57 p.m. Feb. 17 for a counterfeiting matter.
They said a 63-year-old woman from Kunkletown told them a man arrived at the business and purchased a $20 gift certificate by using a $100 counterfeit bill. He obtained $80 in change and the gift certificate, police said.
• Police said a 48-year-old woman from Saylorsburg is the victim of a Protection From Abuse order violation.
They were called to a property on Dixon Drive, Chestnuthill Township, at 8:54 a.m. March 12.
The woman told them she received a letter dated March 11 from the accused, who demanded return of personal property. Police said the woman previously received a “cease and desist” letter from the accused, who will face indirect criminal contempt charges.
• Police received a ChildLine report regarding the welfare of an 8-year-old boy from Effort.
They said the harassment by physical contact report indicated the violation occurred between April 11 near Leisure and Ease lanes, Chestnuthill Township.
• Police said a 56-year-old woman from Stroudsburg was targeted in a theft by deception/identity theft incident.
The woman, who resides on the Effort Neola Road, Chestnuthill Township, went to the police barracks to report the incident, saying that between March 1 and April 4 her Social Security number was used to open a Social Security account. Police said there are no suspects at this time.
