Shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday morning the Mahoning Valley Fire Company was dispatched to a large pile of railroad ties burning along the railroad tracks just below the 800 block of North First Street. Upon their arrival a request was made for the Mahoning police to respond to the scene. The site is just south of the major forest fire in Jim Thorpe.
