• During the 2024-25 season, the Lehighton Cold Weather Station served 53 people: 36 men and 17 women.
• Of those, 23% were over the age of 55; 38% have serious mental health issues; and 80% no shelter (20% insecure shelter with no heat).
• The shelter was open 73 nights and 18 days for a total of 1,340 hours, and there were at least 1,640 meals served (164 meals multiplied by an average of 10 people per meal.
• The most guests the shelter served in one night was 22.
• More than a dozen churches and civic organizations were involved; 59 individuals chaperoned; 56 individuals provided meals; 43 individuals/organizations donated money; 300-plus individuals donated supplies/food/clothing/linens; and the group had almost 500 followers on Facebook.
The Lehighton Cold Weather Station is 100% volunteer based, and 100% community funded.
