The Monroe County commissioners announced an investigation at their meeting on Wednesday morning and said the matter was referred to the Pennsylvania attorney general.
Details were sparse.
Commissioner Chairman John Christy read a statement on behalf of the commissioners saying they “wish to inform the public that a personnel investigation was conducted within the offices of an elected official related to the propriety of a work-at-home policy that was allegedly instituted by that public official.”
Christy said, “Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, we are not at liberty to disclose specific details or comment further at this time.”
He did not reveal the employee’s name, but said the matter has been referred to the PA Office of the Attorney General for a thorough independent and impartial review. The commissioners are committed to ensuring that all actions taken are in the best interests of the county and its residents, and the county will abide by this decision made by that agency.”
Christy went on to say that they appreciate the public’s “understanding and patience as this process unfolds.” They will provide updates as they become available and the situation permits.
