The Weatherly American Legion Auxiliary Unit 360 recognized the quick action of a Weatherly police officer, who saved a choking victim last month.
President George-Ann Herling presented Officer Michael Eyer with a Citation of Meritorious Service for his actions on March 22, when dispatched by Carbon County 911 for a woman choking in a residence. He observed the woman gasping for air and administered several blows with the palm of his hand to her mid to upper back, clearing the obstruction.
Borough officers are often the first line of contact in a medical emergency, relaying information to medical teams, borough police said in a release, or taking quick action, as in this case, to save a life.
