Fire companies from three countries responded to a three-alarm brush fire Thursday afternoon in West Penn township.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. in a remote location just west of the Blue Mountain Christian Retreat. Fire companies from Schuylkill, Carbon and Lehigh counties responded to the scene with tankers and brush trucks.

The first on scene, West Penn township police reported three acres on fire including a field and a heavily wooded area spreading fast due to the high winds.
