Albert Shaw, 41, Tamaqua, is facing charges after Tamaqua police said he attempted to fight with deputies and police officers around 7:45 a.m. April 11.
According to police, Tamaqua officers and members of the Northampton County and Carbon County sheriff’s departments, and the Lehigh Township Police Department were searching for a wanted person and visited a known flop house on the 200 block of West Rowe Street. The location has had numerous complaints about drug trafficking and people going in and out of the home, police said.
Police said two people inside the home came outside as directed. But as Tamaqua police were outside, they could hear commands being given to an uncooperative man.
The man, later identified as Shaw, was combative and yelling. Police said he threw a yellow object at police. He refused to obey deputies’ orders and attempted to fight with one of the deputies, police said.
A deputy used a stun gun to subdue him and take him into custody.
Shaw was arraigned before Tamaqua Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and obstructing administration of law. He was released on his own recognizance.
