The Lehigh County recorder of deeds is offering a free alert service to help residents monitor activity on their property records and protect themselves against fraud.
By signing up for the Record Alert service, you’ll receive instant notifications any time a document is recorded involving your property.
Alerts can be sent via text message or email and will include important details such as: Parcel Number, Instrument Number, Document Type and Date Recorded.
There are two key reasons to keep an eye on property records:
• When you purchase a property, take out a mortgage or satisfy an existing mortgage, you want to ensure the documents are properly recorded in your name. This confirms your legal ownership and protects your rights.
• Property fraud can happen when someone files a document to take out a mortgage or transfer ownership without your knowledge or consent.
