Inmate charged after injuring guards in Carbon prison

A Carbon County inmate faces multiple charges after fighting with guards last month.

Dietrik Hosier, 35, was charged with four counts each of assault by prisoner, aggravated assault, fear of bodily harm; aggravated assault, attempts to cause bodily harm; aggravated harassment and simple assault.

District Judge Beth Dodson arraigned him on charges and set bail at $180,000.

On March 31, Hosier refused to follow commands to take down a “prison tent,” which obstructs guards’ view of inmates, threw a punch at a guard and then spit, kicked and head-butted guards attempting to control him, court papers said.

One guard suffered a back injury, while another was treated for a hit to the head and had to go through decontamination after being exposed to bodily fluid/saliva, court papers said.
