Emma Freeman was perfect in the circle and also did damage at the plate on Monday as Northwestern’s softball team cruised to its eighth consecutive victory.

SOFTBALL

Salisbury-Northwestern

Emma Freeman tossed a six-inning perfect game, as Northwestern rolled to a 10-0 Colonial League win over Salisbury.

Freeman struck out 13, walked none and didn’t allow a hit in the win.

Abby Dunstan led the Tigers’ offense with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Freeman doubled, and Shelby Mittman added a triple for the Tigers.

Pen Argyl-Palmerton

A stellar pitching performance and timely hitting helped Palmerton claim a critical 3-1 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

The Bombers, who finished with three hits, scored all of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Samantha Wolfe delivered a two-run hit in the frame.

Winning pitcher Hailey Barry, who went 1-for-3 with a run scored, allowed one run in the top of the third and kept the Green Knights scoreless from there.

Tessa Sander also had a hit for the winners.

Weatherly snapped a five-game losing streak with an 18-0 non-league win over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

The Wreckers erupted for 13 runs in the second inning to take control early.

Cortney Snyder went 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Olivia Marasco had a single, a triple, three RBIs and a run. Rebecca Caldwell added two singles, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Peyton Faust tossed a one-hit shutout and struck out 11 as Tamaqua blanked Lourdes 11-0 in four innings in Schuylkill League play.

Faust walked one and struck out the side in three of the four innings.

Ceanna Gormley led the offense with a single, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Addison Krall added a single, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Nico Conahan chipped in with two singles and two runs scored.

Pleasant Valley exploded offensively for a 22-1 win over Dieruff in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Brianca Pridham went 4-for-5 with four doubles, three runs scored and five RBIs for the Bears. Rylan Knapp also finished 4-for-5 with three singles, a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Southern Lehigh-Lehighton

Southern Lehigh topped Lehighton 6-3 in Colonial League action to claim its third straight victory.

Lily Kelly tripled among her two hits, had two RBIs and scored twice for the Spartans. Hailey Schumaker doubled and finished with two hits and two runs scored. Demi Lewis and Brooke Davies each finished with two hits and a run scored for the winners.

Morgan Myers, Sophia Wise (RBI, double) and Aliyah Nothstein (run scored) all had two hits for the Tribe, who scored three times in the final two innings. Kennedy Quinn tripled and knocked in a run.

Ally Becker led the Hurricanes with four singles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Deanna Pugh was the lone Fillie with multiple hits, finishing with two singles and a run scored.

Cameron Pengelly pitched Palmerton to a 3-1 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl.

Pengelly went the distance, striking out 10 and walking none, while allowing three hits and no earned runs. AJ Borger’s two-run double put the Bombers on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. Brady Reph’s fielder’s choice RBI scored Borger in the sixth with an insurance run.

Jason Carelli added a double and a run scored, while Alex Keiper and Greyson Ahner both singled.

Jim Thorpe-Catasauqua

Nikolas Schwartz allowed two hits over six and two-thirds innings and Tanner MoDavis had a two-run single to lead Jim Thorpe to a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

MoDavis knocked in two of the Olympians’ three runs in the bottom of the first inning after Lynkan Moore plated the Rough Riders’ lone run with an RBI single in the top of the frame.

Schwartz struck out five and walked four before Cole Lazorick recorded the final out. Lazorick also had two hits and three stolen bases.

Cole Dynda drove in five runs to help Northwestern rally past Salisbury for a 9-6 win in Colonial League play.

Dynda had a three-run double in a five-run sixth inning that put the host Tigers ahead to stay. Salisbury took a 6-4 lead in the top of the sixth when the Falcons pushed across three runs.

Eli Zimmerman added three hits for the winners, while Josh Farber had a pair of hits.

Panther Valley turned back Executive Education for a 7-5 win in non-league play.

Gavin Yuricheck led the Panthers with two hits and four RBIs. Yuricheck had a two-run single in the team’s four-run fifth inning. Connor Penberth added two hits for Panther Valley.

Brady Jones earned the victory on the mound, while Brody Breiner allowed one hit over the final three innings, striking out seven to seal it.

Mason Ligenza drove in four runs to lead Tamaqua to a 12-2 non-league win over Pleasant Valley.

Ligenza, who had two hits, smacked a two-run homer in the Raiders’ four-run fourth inning. Logan Morgans also had two hits for Tamaqua, which stormed out to a 4-1 lead after three innings.

Cameron King had one of three hits for the Bears with an RBI single. Jake Procita also had a sacrifice fly.

Southern Lehigh-Lehighton

Southern Lehigh pulled away from Lehighton to claim an 11-4 victory in Colonial League action.

The Spartans collected 13 hits, including three that went for extra bases. Matthew O’Neill had a triple with three RBIs and scored two runs for Southern Lehigh, which led 3-2 after the first inning before six runs over the next four frames built a 9-2 advantage.

Luke Kawczenski doubled and knocked in two runs, and Logan Kessler also collected a double with an RBI and scored twice. Christopher Fritts had three hits and drove in two. Sean McMenamy, Colton Sams (three runs scored) and Mason Schwartz (RBI, run scored) each had two hits.

Derek Behler doubled among his two hits and had an RBI for the Tribe. Jayse Lawrence also had two hits, and Cody Snyder tripled, had an RBI and scored once.

Leadoff hitter Alan Evans went 4-for-4 at the plate with three singles, a double, three runs scored and three RBIs for Schuylkill Haven, which has won four in a row and outscored opponents 48-7 during that stretch.

Rocco Griguoli connected for two extra-base hits, both doubles, for the Colts.
