Telethon workers cheered and danced with Crazy Willy (Larry Hillegass) as the 1991 Easter Seals Telethon came to a close Saturday with another successful event.
The 12-hour telethon that aired on Blue Ridge Cable TV 13 ended with advisory board member Albert Lichty the final tote of $23,601 on the board.
The money will be used to help pay costs for therapy of stroke victims and handicapped children living in Carbon County.
Hillegass, of Palmerton, has been entertaining on the telethon since first being approached by Karen Kolek, an event organizer who became familiar with Easter Seals services when her brother, Barry Mertz, who has cerebral palsy, took advantage of the programs.
