Wildflower walk planned on April 26

A Wildflower Walk will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. April 26 at Frog Hollow near Friedensburg.

Participants will meet at the parking area on Stone Mountain Road and discover early blooming flowers and the invasive plants competing with them.

Schuylkill County Conservancy naturalist Audrey Wells will lead the walk to look for the flowers that bloom early in spring but don’t bloom for long. They are especially important for the earliest pollinators that emerge from hibernation at this time. Participants will look for trout lily, jack-in-the-pulpit, skunk cabbage, Virginia bluebells, spring beauties and more.

The trails can be rough and wet at this time of year so wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. No dogs please.
