The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced new traffic patterns are in effect in the roadwork zone on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
The section of Route 115 north that had been closed will now be open. Route 115 south will be closed and detoured.
The posted detour takes Route 115 south traffic on Route 903, Route 534, Route 209, Route 715, Sugar Hollow Road and State Road. Expect delays and use caution driving through the area.
The traffic changes are for a $5,174,969 project to improve Route 115 that began in early 2024 and is anticipated to be complete this August.
The project includes safety improvements on Route 115 from approximately Astolat Road to around 300 feet north of the Pohopoco Creek Bridge and includes the realignment of Merwinsburg Road at Route 115.
The project calls for rehabilitating the Route 115 travel lanes, installing new guide rails, and adding new signs and pavement markings. It also includes construction of a wide shoulder and retaining wall at the corner of Astolat Road, widening for a Route 115 southbound left turn lane at Evergreen Hollow Road, and the realignment of Merwinsburg Road and widening for a Route 115 northbound left turn lane at the new T- intersection of Merwinsburg Road and Route 115.
Road-Con Inc. of West Chester is the general contractor on the project.
