NCC appoints vice president of workforce development
Northampton Community College has appointed Shawn C. Thomas, Ed.D., as vice president of workforce development and community partnerships.
She brings a strong record of innovation and leadership in workforce education, adult learning and economic development.
In this senior leadership role, Thomas will provide collegewide direction to align NCC’s mission with regional economic development goals.
She will work closely with employers, prospective students and community partners across Northampton and Monroe counties to address evolving workforce needs.
“Dr. Thomas brings a unique combination of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and extensive experience in building community and industry partnerships,” said NCC President David A. Ruth, Ph.D.
“Her passion for accessible workforce programs that meet the needs of our region will be a tremendous asset to our college.”
Previously, Thomas served as executive director of adult and continuing education and business engagement at Rowan College at Burlington County in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
There, she led multiple departments within the Workforce Development division and launched dual-enrollment GED programs that enable students to earn industry-recognized certifications and enhance their employability.
She holds a doctorate in higher education and organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, master’s degrees from Holy Family University and Temple University, and a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University.
She is a certified workforce development professional and has served in leadership roles with national and regional organizations, including as president-elect of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges chapter at Rowan College.
