State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• A 17-year-old Effort girl is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 3:47 a.m. April 1 at the intersection of Owl Hollow Drive and Rolling Hills Road in Ross Township.
Police said she was driving a 2022 Honda Civic southeast on Rolling Hills Road when she lost control of the car, which traveled off the road and into a wooded area.
• Annette Romero, 60, of Palmerton, was injured after a two-vehicle crash at 7:01 a.m. April 1 on Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township, police said.
She was treated at the scene by personnel from the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association for a neck injury, police said, but refused a medical transport from the scene.
Police said the crash occurred when Keely R. Pleiss, 44, of Easton, was driving a 2010 BMW south and traveling too fast for conditions on a left-hand curve. They said the BMW entered the opposite lane and hit a 2019 Buick Encore driven by Romero. Police said the BMW continued after the impact but became disabled on the left side of the road. Pleiss, who was uninjured, the fled the scene, according to police.
The Buick also had disabling damage from the crash.
Pleiss was cited for multiple violations, including failure to provide information and render aid, according to police.
• Two people were injured in a DUI-related crash at 2:51 a.m. March 27 at the intersection of Route 115 and Kunkletown Road in Ross Township.
Police said a 35-year-old man from Maplewood, New Jersey, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of the crash.
They did not specify who was driving the 2016 Honda Civic and 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee involved, or which people involved — a 61-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, both from Saylorsburg, and a 31-year-old man from Easton — were the ones who were injured.
Police said one of the vehicles was westbound on Hamilton Road South, approaching a stop sign at the intersection with Route 115, while the other vehicle was northbound on Route 115. They said the New Jersey man traveled through the intersection without proper clearance and hit the second vehicle head-on.
Police said one of the drivers and a passenger in the second vehicle were injured and transported by emergency services personnel to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, for evaluation.
Both vehicles had disabling damage.
