Local roundup: Results from April 10
Pleasant Valley and Northern Lehigh both had successful days on Thursday.
The Bears posted wins in baseball, tennis and girls lacrosse, while the Bulldogs also gained victories in baseball and softball and recorded a sweep in track and field action.
BASEBALL
Moravian A.-Lehighton
Lehighton rolled to a 16-1 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.
Jayce Lawrence used both his arm and bat to get the Indians back in the win column, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Lawrence had two singles, a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Lawrence also earned the pitching win, allowing two hits and one run in three innings of work. He struck out four.
Cole Dietz finished with two singles, a run scored and three RBIs for the winners.

Northern Lehigh erupted for a 12-run opening inning en route to a 16-1 non-league win over visiting Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.
Connor Simms led the way with two singles, a triple, a walk and an RBI for the Bulldogs. Braedon Dougherty finished with a single, double, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
Coy Daubert (single, three runs scored, three RBIs) and Parker Schaffer (a single, two runs scored, two RBIs) also played key roles in Northern Lehigh’s second straight win.

Northwestern was outhit, but the Tigers still managed to earn a 6-1 Colonial League victory over Wilson.
Aidan Freeman scattered nine hits, but didn’t give up any earned runs and walked just one while striking out nine to gain the win.
Freeman also helped his own cause with a hit and two RBIs.
The winners also received two hits from Nolan Fitzgerald. Eli Zimmerman chipped in with a hit, two runs and three stolen bases.

Pleasant Valley-Dieruff
Cameron King pitched a three-hit shutout to lead Pleasant Valley to a 1-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Dieruff.
King only needed 65 pitches — 48 for strikes — to blank the Huskies, and also finished with seven strikeouts.
Jake Procita finished with three hits for the Bears and drove in the game’s only run in the fifth inning.

Northwestern exploded for 12 runs in the fourth inning to pull away for a 17-2 Colonial League victory over visiting Wilson.
Natalie Conner had a three-run homer and an RBI single during the big fourth frame, while winning pitcher Emma Freeman also knocked in three run in the fourth.
Abby Dunstan drilled a homer in the third and finished with two hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Conner finished 4-for-4, while Freeman and Rylee McGinley both collected a pair of hits.

Emily Szczepanski pitched and hit Notre Dame to a 13-3 Colonial League victory over host Palmerton.
Szczepanski allowed just one earned run and struck out two for the pitching win and collected three hits, one a double, and knocked in three at the plate.
The Crusaders also received a single, double, three runs and two RBIs from Hannah Lilly.
Hailey Barry and Grace Schneider both had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Bombers, while Tessa Sander contributed a pair of hits and a run.

Palmerton-Lehighton
The Lehighton boys and girls picked up wins against Palmerton in a Colonial League meet.
The Tribe got victories from five different athletes in an 88.5-61.5 win in the boys meet, with Thomas Blair (100), Aiden Eckhart (200), Joseph Roth (400, javelin), Equan Warner (300 hurdles) and Kyle Kuznicki (800) picking up victories.
Jake Rutkowitz won the 110 hurdles, long jump and triple jump for the Bombers, while Connor Hibell picked up wins in the 1600 and 3200.
In the girls meet, the Indians got a big day from Brielle Frable, who won the 800, 1600 and 3200 in an 87-62 victory. Lorah Thomas also posted wins in both the shot put and discus.
Nataly Walters won the 100, long jump and triple jump for the Bombers, while Ruby Walters swept the 100 and 300 hurdles.

The Bulldog girls posted a 86.5-59.5 win, while the boys triumphed 83-58.
Dekota Barthold paced the Bulldogs with first-place finishes in all four of her events — the 100 hurdles, shot put, discus and javelin.
Alexia Heffelfinger (100, 200) and Katelynn Barthold (400, long jump) each won a pair of events in the girls meet, while Zaid Salih crossed the finish line first in both the 1600 and 3200 for the boys.
