Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior citizens met on April 3 with 25 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. Two members were added to the sick list.

The secretary and treasurer’s reports were accepted, and refreshments were served. Three members are celebrating birthdays in April. Two members donated food to the club.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

For the 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley, there will be the annual Easter Sunday school program, which will feature music, readings, detailed information on “priestly attire” as found in the Bible, and a message from Pastor Kim Leskowich. All are invited. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the Lewistown Valley Community Chorus under the direction of Brenda Reed will present its annual Easter musical. Fellowship and refreshments will follow. All are welcome.

There will be no evening services Sunday or Wednesday.

A Maundy Thursday service with Communion will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 17 at Zion Church, Lewistown Valley.

The Good Friday service will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 18 at Zion UMC in New Ringgold.

An Easter Sunday sunrise service will be held rain or shine at 6:15 a.m. April 20 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The Palm/Passion Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday with a joyous noise offering and a confirmation bazaar. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

WASP meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Bell Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met on April 8 with 39 members present.

President Robert Neifert opened the meeting.

Four members are celebrating birthdays in April, and one couple is celebrating an anniversary.

Vice President Jayne McLaughlin took over the meeting. The anniversary was celebrated with food.

The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. April 22 at Christ Church in Barnesville.

Lewistown Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club met recently and discussed new business. The arrangements in Irish theme were judged with Evelyn Adams, first place; Norene Rosso, second; and Pat Wishousky, third. Forced branch winners were Barb Scott, first place; and Pat Wishousky and Cindy Sabol, tied for second.

The April meeting will be held at 1 p.m. April 22 at Zion Church Social Hall, Lewistown Valley. The program will be “Container Gardening” presented by Nicholette Scheitrum. Arrangements by members to be judged will be an Easter arrangement using yellow with accessory outside; and specimen of spring flower or blooming branch. Theme this year for arrangements is “Colors in our Garden.”
