J.E. Morgan Memorial Park in West Penn Township opened for the season on April 1.
Township supervisors accepted Roadmaster Jeremy Frable’s report at this week’s meeting, which noted that township crews laid shale at the park.
“That doesn’t touch on the scope of the work that they’ve performed at that park to enhance the parking areas,” said Supervisor Jim Akins.
He commended Frable and his crew.
“It looks like night and day. It looks like a world-class park that belongs in any other municipality south of this mountain,” Akins said. “It’s fantastic.”
The park on Cold Spring Road has playing fields, an accessible walking path that is paved, playground equipment, picnic pavilions and restrooms.
In his report, Frable noted that crews also repaired street signs on township roads, swept cinders from intersections, trimmed trees along roads, patched potholes with cold patch, cleaned bridge decks and maintained township buildings and equipment.
