DiMarco announces candidacy for sheriff

Frank DiMarco has announced his candidacy for the office of Schuylkill County Sheriff in the Republican primary on May 20.

A resident of Walker Township and a graduate of Tamaqua High School, DiMarco brings 28 years of law enforcement experience to the race.

He graduated from the Reading City Police Academy in 1997 and served full-time with the Saint Clair Police Department, from which he is now retired.

He remains active in law enforcement, serving as a police officer with the Blythe Township Police Department. He also operates an auto repair shop in New Philadelphia.

Throughout his career, DiMarco has investigated and prosecuted crimes involving narcotics, theft, and assault. He has handled civil matters and has educated the public on firearm safety and scam prevention. He also served as a code enforcement officer, working with municipalities and attorneys to address serious code violations affecting communities.

If elected, DiMarco pledges full transparency within the Sheriff’s Office and promises to serve as a full-time sheriff.

He plans to appoint a chief deputy from within the current Sheriff’s Department. Committed to fiscal responsibility, he plans to pursue grant funding to expand the department’s capabilities.

A strong advocate for constitutional rights, DiMarco supports the Second Amendment and plans to implement policies to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security, ensuring the Sheriff’s Office is prepared to support these agencies when needed.

DiMarco’s plans for community improvement include a program in which able-bodied inmates from the Schuylkill County Prison would assist in cleaning roadways, streets, streams, and rivers.

In an effort to prevent gun violence in schools and workplaces, DiMarco aims to explore the acquisition of a K-9 unit trained in the detection of firearms and explosives.

This specialized unit would be deployed to secure schools, public buildings, events, and the Schuylkill County Courthouse.

In addition to enhancing security, the K-9 would also serve an educational role through school demonstrations.

DiMarco is a strong supporter of local firefighters and is a member of both the Walker Township and New Ringgold Fire Companies. He is an advocate for veterans and first responders.
