St. Matthew’s ECC, Kunkletown, will host the multi-ECC church’s Lenten worship service at 7 p.m. today.

WE Missions meal

At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will again host a West End Missions meal.

ID theft seminar

Rep. Jack Rader is hosting an identity theft seminar Thursday at the Blakeslee Community Center at 5669 Route 115 in Blakeslee.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the seminar begins at 6 p.m.

The speaker will be David Shallcross, director of Senior Protection from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

K0C meeting

The Knights of Columbus at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Eldred cleanup

The Polk Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company has its gun bingo and crossbow raffle Saturday. There is no April breakfast.

Pantry open

The Supplemental Food Resource Center food pantry at Effort UMC is slated to be open from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Ross Museum

Egg hunts

• St. Peter’s UMC, 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg, will welcome children ages 2 to 10 to its annual egg hunt on the church grounds at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The rain date is April 19.

• Salem-St. Paul, Kresgeville, will hold its egg hunt, plus crafts and snacks at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, after the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Blooming Easter

Pickup for the Blooming Easter orders at Salem-St. Paul is from 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Men’s Breakfast

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its next Men’s Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. after the morning service on Saturday.

Passion/Palm Sunday

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold a Passion/Palm Sunday worship at 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

On April 16, the church will hold its free community dinner, drive-thru style.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will fill its church with song and anticipation at 9 a.m.

• Salem-St. Paul Lutheran, Kresgeville, will hold its Palm Sunday services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion and Blessing of the Palms, congregational reading of the Passion of the Lord and Holy Communion.

• Effort UMC will hold its Palm Sunday services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. An Easter pageant will take place at the 11 a.m. service.

Sportsmen’s Day

Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is holding a Sportsmen’s Day on Sunday at 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Tickets include refreshments from 12:30-4 p.m. Raffles are ongoing through out the day. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Tax help reminder

The Rotary Foundation of the Greater Poconos will operate this year’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (Rotary-GP VITA), providing free income tax return preparation to Monroe and Pike County residents. The program assists individuals earning up to $70,000 per year. Volunteers are certified by the IRS. Representatives from elected officials’ offices will be present some days to assist with 2024 Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications (PA-1000). Rotary-GP VITA will operate at five sites in Monroe County from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through April 15. Bereavement support

St. Luke’s Hospice Bereavement Support Program will host its next monthly Adult Grief Support Group at the Western Pocono Community Library, Brodheadsville, from 1-2:30 p.m., April 16.

The group is open to the public. It is led by a St. Luke’s Hospice bereavement counselor.

Maundy Thursday

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold a Maundy Thursday worship service on April 17 with Holy Communion at 7 p.m.

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, will celebrate Holy Communion and a Tenebrae service with its sister church, First UMC of Bangor on Third Street at 7 p.m.

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold its Holy Thursday service, Lord’s Supper Mass, at 7 p.m. Adoration follows until 11 p.m.

• Salem-St. Paul, Kresgeville, will hold its Maundy Thursday services at 2 and 7 p.m., with Holy Communion and with Stripping of the Altar at the evening service.

• Effort UMC will have soup and bread at 5:30 p.m., followed by a worship service at 7 p.m.

Good Friday services

• Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will hold Good Friday services at 2 and 7 p.m. The service is called the Service of Shadows, with a reading of the Passion of the Lord.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effort, will hold its Good Friday service at 3 p.m.

• Middlecreek Christian Church, Kresgeville, will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. under the leadership of Pastor Joe Pine.

• Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m.

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will hold a 9 a.m. Tenebrae service and a 7 p.m. celebration of the Lord’s Passion.

Easter baskets

On April 19, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold an Easter basket blessing at 1 p.m. and an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m.

Both events are for the worshipping community.

Nature walk

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran holds nature walks. On April 19, a walk is slated for 1 p.m. at Kemmerer Park in Jim Thorpe. The rain date is April 26, 1 p.m.

Turkey dinner

Salem-St. Paul Lutheran is accepting orders for turkey takeout dinners. Dinners include turkey with gravy, filling, carrots, applesauce, roll and choice of cake — molasses or apple.

To order, call 570-688-5381 no later than April 20.

Pickup is set for 4-5:30 p.m. May 3.

The church is also taking orders for celery seed dressing.
