The Towamensing Township Board of Supervisors conducted the following business this month:
• Announced that two paving projects will go out for bid this week.
Bids will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. April 24 for the 2025 Asphalt Seal Coat Project and the 2025 Bituminous Paving Project. A nonmandatory prebid meeting will be held at 1 p.m. April 15. Proposal documents are available at the township building.
• Plans for the Whiteman/Owl Creek subdivision received final approval and signatures following approval from the state Department of Environmental Protection and the notarization of a shared easement.
• Sunrise Lehighton Group/Lakeside Self Storage was granted a two-month extension, moving the deadline to July 13.
• A public hearing will be held at 4 p.m. April 24 regarding an ordinance to vacate a portion of Old Forest Street.
• The Supervisors Compensation Ordinance was approved, providing a state-mandated pay increase for newly elected or reelected supervisors.
• A township recycling event will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at the township building.
• The Historical Commission received the requested cabinet for storing items at the township building.
• Fire police were requested and approved for Palmerton’s “Airing of the Quilts” event, scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 3. The event will feature more than 500 quilts, along with vendors and artisans throughout Palmerton.
• Fire police were also approved for the Raising the House 5K race, which will begin at 7 a.m. May 10.
