A Lansford man faces criminal charges for assaulting his wife on April 2.

Matthew D. Miller, 43, of East Snyder Avenue, was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment and committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning in lieu of $25,000 bail.

According to court papers, Miller grabbed his wife by her neck and pushed her into a wall, and then to the ground. She had red marks on her neck, and scratches from being pushed down, police said.

Miller told police that his wife prevented him from entering the residence and he moved her out of the way.
