April 3, 1974 — Jim Hay wins three events, setting field records in two of them, as Palmerton’s track and field team gains a 74-44 Lehigh Valley League victory over Northampton. Hay sets a new mark in the long jump with a distance of 21-1 1/2 and also rewrites the record book by clearing 6-2 1/4 in the high jump. The senior captures a third win with a 42-3 3/4 in the triple jump. The Blue Bombers also receive individual firsts from Clay DeWalt (880), Turner (mile), Pitts (two mile) and John Kleintop (discus).
