Hearings set for UGI proposed increase

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has announced five in-person and telephonic hearings in early April to gather public input on the proposed rate changes by UGI Utilities Inc. — Gas Division.

The commission voted 5-0 to investigate UGI’s proposal to increase its annual operating revenues for natural gas distribution service by $110.4 million (9.7%).

Under the proposal, the average bill for a residential customer using 73.7 hundred cubic feet (Ccf) of natural gas per month would increase from $104.47 to $115.74 per month (10.8%).

In-person public input hearings will be held in Williamsport, Lancaster and Wilkes-Barre.

Two telephone hearings will be held April 10, at 1 and 6 p.m.

To testify at a telephonic public input hearing, preregister by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.

If you do not preregister, you may not be able to testify.

To preregister, call 412-565-3555 or email mswarner@pa.gov and provide:

• Your first and last name.

• The date and time of the public hearing at which you wish to testify.

• The phone number you will be using to call into the public input hearing.

• A phone number where you can be reached prior to the hearing if the commission needs to contact you.

• If you require an interpreter to participate, the language of the interpreter.

Customers who do not wish to testify but want to listen to the public input hearing may call in using the same hearing information, by dialing 866-566-0651.

You must enter the following PIN number when instructed to do so: 5995647.

To testify, prepare what you are going to say beforehand. Even though it is not required, you may want to write out your statement, which can be read.

A final PUC decision is due by Oct. 28.
