Closures scheduled on the Northeast extension of the turnpike

The Pennsylvania Turnpike advises motorists traveling on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) in Lehigh and Bucks County of upcoming overnight road closures between the Quakertown (Exit 44) and Lehigh Valley (Exit 56) Interchanges.

As part of annual maintenance work in the corridor, the following closures are scheduled:

• Sunday, April 6, midnight to 6 a.m., northbound at Quakertown to Lehigh Valley

• Sunday, April 13, midnight to 6 a.m., southbound at Lehigh Valley to Quakertown

The following suggested detours will be in place during the respective closures:

NORTHBOUND DETOUR

• PA Route 663 North 3.3 miles

• PA Route 309 North 9.3 miles

• Interstate 78 West 6.3 miles

• PA Route 309 North 1.0 miles

• U.S. Route 22 West 1.1 miles

• Re-enter at Lehigh Valley Interchange #56

SOUTHBOUND DETOUR

• U.S. Route 22 East 0.5 miles

• PA Route 309 South 2.0 miles

• Interstate 78 East 6.2 miles

• PA Route 309 South 9.2 miles

• PA Route 663 South 3.2 miles

• Re-enter at Quakertown Interchange #44

Pennsylvania State Police and PA Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers. Changeable message signs will also provide information on this closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
