Lehighton Band to present its annual spring concert
The Lehighton Band will hold its annual spring concert at 2 p.m. April 12 at the Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.
The concert will open with “Call to Victory” by Karl King, followed by “Lead On, O King Eternal” by James Swearingen, “Hercules,” arranged by Calvin Custer, “Stay” by Randall Standridge, and part of the “Unbroken Project.”
The band will continue with Pop and Rock Legends: Stevie Wonder, arranged by John Wasson, bringing a lively energy to the concert.
This will be followed by the patriotic tones of “By Dawn’s Early Light” by David Shaffer, and the classic “Hawkeye Fair March” by Karl King. Adding a touch of magic, the band will perform “Abracadabra” by Frank Ticheli.
A special highlight of the concert will be “Caprice for Flutes,” featuring the talented flute section — Laura Reichard, Jennifer Mann and Vickie Malloy — and composed by John Higgins.
The program will continue with the nautical-themed Fantasy on “American Sailing Songs” by Clare Grundman.
Fans of film music will enjoy “Highlights from the Motion Picture Star Trek,” arranged by John Edmondson, followed by the energetic “Sabre Dance,” arranged by Andre Balent.
Concluding the performance, the band will play “The High School Cadets” by John Philip Sousa, leaving the audience with a rousing and memorable finale.
Admission is free, though a freewill offering will be accepted to support the band’s continued efforts in providing musical experiences to the community.
The Lehighton Band is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley.
“The band has been preparing for this concert since January, and we are excited to share the joy of music with our audience as we welcome the spring season,” Cressley said. “Our program is designed to uplift and inspire, and we encourage everyone to join us for an afternoon of wonderful music.”
