Fire destroyed a barn in Walker Township on Monday evening that reportedly housed memorabilia from Heisler’s Cloverleaf Dairy.
Crews were dispatched to the fire at 4 Koch Lane in the Lewistown Valley near Tamaqua just before 7 p.m.
The three-alarm fire brought firefighters from around the region. Tanker trucks from several fire departments supplied water to the remote location.
Just before 9 p.m. the fire was brought under control. However, the barn near Heisler’s Cloverleaf Dairy was a loss.
Ann Ostergaard, an owner of Heisler’s, posted her thanks to New England Fire Company and other fire personnel who tried to save the barn.
“Your bravery and courage never cease to amaze me,” she posted to the Walker Township/Lewistown Valley Neighborhood News Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
Ostergaard said the barn was used for storage.
“But many of the items lost were memories of Heisler’s days past. Irreplaceable,” she posted.
Photos from the scene show a red barn with hex signs engulfed in flames. An antique firetruck is parked inside.
A nearby home was saved from the flames.
