PSP Fern Ridge - accidents
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following accidents:
* Roxanne P. Klump, 58, of Pocono Lake, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 6:42 p.m. Mach 20 on the Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was a driving a 2016 Ford Focus eastbound when it struck a deer that entered its lane of travel.
They said the car sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
* Natalie Bosco, 26, of Jim Thorpe, is facing multiple charges after a two-vehicle mishap at 4:28 p.m. Feb. 10 at the intersection of Weir Lake Road and Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was cited for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle, duty to give information, immediate notice of accident to police, unattended motor vehicle depositing waste and other material on a highway, abandonment of a vehicle on a highway, careless driving, driver required to be licensed, vehicle turning left, failure to drive at a safe speed and turning movements and required signals.
Police said she was driving a vehicle eastbound on Rt. 209 when it attempted to turn into a gas station at Weir Lake Road while failing to yield to a westbound vehicle that was proceeding through the intersection with a steady green light. Police said Bosco’s vehicle collided with the other vehicle, resulting in both vehicles having sustained disabling damages. Police said Bosco fled the scene while leaving her vehicle in the center of the highway, but was later identified through the investigation.
Vehicles involved in the crash were a 2011 Subaru Impreza and a 2002 Ford F-150.
* Geovanny Quizhoi Chauca, 46, of Brodheadsville, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a two-vehicle mishap at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 28 at the intersection of Route 115 and Jenna Drive in Chestnuthill Township. No one was hurt in the incident.
Police said it happened when he was operating a 2019 Honda Odyssey on Jenna Drive and made a turn onto Route 115, pulling in front of a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven northbound by Sean A. Kratzer, 18, of Effort, causing the collision.
Police said both vehicles sustained heavy damages.
They said Quizhoi Chauca displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.
* No one was injured in a one-vehicle mishap at 5:57 p.m. March 2 on Rhododendron Trail, Penn Forest Township.
Police said a 2021 Hyundai, whose driver was not identified by police, was traveling down a hill when it slid off the roadway and struck a tree.
* Christopher C. Kane, 37, of Saylorsburg, was cited for accidents involving damage tro an unattended vehicle or property following a mishap at 7:39 p.m. Feb. 21 on the Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound when it traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. The truck sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
Police said Kane abandoned the vehicle without making proper notifications.
* Police were called to a hit-and-run mishap at 4:07 p.m. March 3 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
They said Kelly Piwoski, 55, of Kresgeville, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 when it was “rear-ended by a Chevrolet Silverado while she was stopped pom Gilbert Road at the intersection with Rt. 115. They said the Silverado continued north on Rt. 115.
* A 17-year-old boy from Stroudsburg and a 17-year--old boy from Saylorsburg sustained suspected minor injuries in a two-vehicle mishap at 2:42 p.m. March 11 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said they did not require emergency medical services transports from the scene.
Police said the mishap occurred when the Saylorsburg boy, driving a 1996 Buick Le Sabre, “rear-ended” a 2016 Mazda driven by the Stroudburg boy.
Police said a local towing service was called to assist at the scene.
* Dante L. Matos, 37, of Jim Thorpe, was cited for driving while his license is suspended or revoked after a two-vehicle mishap at 10:18 p.m. March 6 on Parkside Avenue, Tobyhanna Township.
Police said the incident occurred when Laura C. Simmons, 35, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2002 Ford F150 northbound when she was fleeing from a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Matos, with whom she was involved in an active domestic incident. Police said Simmons attempted to turn left in to the state police barracks while Matos attempted to stop her, cutting her off by jumping the curb. They said the Dodge struck a sign and sideswiped the F150.
Police said Simmons was able to pull in front of the barracks. Her vehicle had minor damages.
They said Matos fled the scene in an unknown direction but was later identified and charged.
In addition to both drivers, an eight-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, both from Nesquehoning, who was with Simmons, were also uninjured.
* James A. Antonucci, 42, of Kunkletown, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:16 p.m. Feb. 19 on Lake Mineola Road, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse northbound when he swerved to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. The car left the road and struck a tree. It sustained disabling damages and had to be towed from the scene.
* Nathaniel H. Schultz, 27, of Kunkletown, sustained possible injuries and Sandro A. Castillo Soto, 31, of Pittston Township, was injured in a two-vehicle mishap at 8:22 a.m. Feb. 25 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said Schultz did not require a medical services transport from the scene while Castillo Soto was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
They said the mishap occurred when Schultz, driving a 2025 Mack Truck, “rear-ended” a 2014 Honda driven by Castillo Soto.
Police said Schultz was cited for following too closely.
They said a local towing service was beckoned to the scene.
* Zachary M. Prokopczyk, 30, of Albrightsville, was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic after a one-vehicle mishap at 3:09 p.m. March 5 on Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2022 Toyota Corolla that left the road and struck a tree and utility pole. The car had to be towed from the scene.
