Seventy-six youths participated in Primary Election balloting during Youth Week activities held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church hall, Nesquehoning.

Winning nominations of the SON (Sons of Nesquehoning Party were Mike Matsick, mayor; George Diabes, Larry Choley, Joe Marouchoc, Pat Cerimele, Steve Pecha, Denise McCullian, Debbie Greek and Cindy Arthur, council; Marian Stianche, tax collector; Lisa Kurash, assessor; Cindy Whitehead, auditor; and Diane Choley and Georgia Pondish, school directors.

Winning nominations of the PUFF (People United for Freedom) Party were John Chodur, mayor; Mike Lopata, Janice McMichael, Vince Bonner, Bernie McGorry, Andi Biduck, Debbie Balik, Jack Richards and Brian Sweeney, council; Greta Digiglio, tax collector; Dennis Matsick, assessor; Luanne Tyahla, auditor; and Maureen McCullian, tax collector.
