CCEEC announces upcoming programs

Help Wanted
Each summer CCEEC looks to employ local youth through Carbon County Workforce Training, a work experience program for county youth aged 14-24.
This summer CCEEC hopes to fill four positions at 20 hours per week each. Duties include trail and grounds maintenance, animal care, and some clerical and janitorial work. Applications for the program will be accepted from through April 30 at the Workforce Training office, 50 E. Locust St. in Nesquehoning. Creepy Crawlers
Open to all 2, 3 and 4-year-olds, Creepy Crawlers focuses on some aspect of the natural world. Children participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, stories and other activities. Sessions are held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the following dates:
• April 14: “A Hiking We Will Go”
• June 30: “Seeds”
• July 28: “Water”
There are no meetings in May or August.
Programs are free for members, and a $5 per-child donation is requested of nonmembers. Register by phone.
Nature Club
Formerly known as “Ranger Rick,” the Nature Club is open to all students in grades Kindergarten through 6 and runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on April 13 and May 18.
Each meeting begins in an official session where children will discuss and vote on club business. The afternoon concludes with hikes, games, or other nature-oriented activities.
Programs are free for members, and a $5 per-child donation is requested of nonmembers. Register by phone. All topics to be announced.
Art Class
Art Class with Jean Perry: Gray and Red Foxes, will be held at 10 a.m. on April 12.
You probably know that foxes are in the dog family, but did you know that two very different species inhabit Pennsylvania?
Though similar in appearance, gray foxes are in decline compared to the more adaptable red fox.
Choose a watercolor or pastel drawing for your creation on paper. Pictures, furs, and taxidermy references will be available. All art materials are provided for a $20 fee. Open to ages 16 and up. Registration required.
Trivia Night
A night of family fun, testing your nature knowledge with some fast-paced trivia at 6 p.m. on April 25.
Join Naturalist Jeannie Carl, serving as host for the evening, as she quizzes participants on a variety of nature and science related topics. Prizes awarded to winning teams! The program is free and open to all ages, but preregistration is required.
