Weatherly police said a woman who was viciously attacked by her pit bull suffered deep lacerations and tears in her forearm in an incident around 3 p.m. March 26.
They were called to an apartment building on Second Street, where the victim reported she had locked herself in the bathroom after the attack.
She told police she was walking across the room when the dog grabbed her hand.
After a brief struggle, she said, the dog went after her a second time, biting into her forearm.
Police said responding officers were able to gain entry to the apartment and secured the dog in a crate without causing any injury to it or the officers.
They said officers rendered first aid to the victim until emergency medical services personnel arrived.
Police said it was later learned the dog was already on a 10-day quarantine for another attack that happened less than a week prior.
Police said the county’s K-9 officer, Tom Connors, assisted at the scene.
