Under the terms of new legislation approved by the governor, commissioners of sixth class counties now have the power to appoint a county Board of Assessment and Revision of Taxes.
Henceforth, the authority was limited to fourth class counties and in the case of sixth class counties, the commissioners themselves automatically served as board members.
Under the new law, the Carbon commissioners now are granted the right to appoint such a board consisting of three members whose terms shall expire concurrently with the terms of the commissioners making the appointments.
Their salaries are to be fixed by the county salary board.
