Nesquehoning is beginning the planning of the 250th anniversary celebration of our nation in 2026.
A planning meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on April 8 at the Nesquehoning Historical Society, 157 W. Railroad St.
All organizations, churches and residents who would like to be part of planning events for the borough’s 202nd anniversary to coincide with the semiquincentennial of the nation is invited to attend the meeting.
Bring ideas to discuss on ways to commemorate these two historic moments.
Some topics that will be discussed is organizing a parade and weekend festival to celebrate the milestones of the community.
“Many of us remember when the town came together and celebrated the 200th birthday of our Nation in 1976,” the historical society posted on its Facebook page. “We can definitely do it again for 2026. Let’s make (the late) Denny Creitz (borough historian) and so many others proud that the traditions continue in honoring our town and nation.”
Parking will be available in St. Mary’s lot next to the historical society.
