Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim Leskovich will share a message about shoes for the preparation of hearts for Easter during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m.
There will be a 6:30 p.m. Sunday service with Pastor Kim sharing a message regarding towels in preparation of hearts for Jesus. All are welcome to all services.
There will be no Wednesday evening prayer groups through the weeks of Lent as Lenten services are offered by the New Ringgold Ministerium.
Hymn sing
At 7:15 p.m. a people’s choice hymn sing will be held before the 7:30 p.m. April 2 service at Immanuel Evangelical Congregational Church in the village of Drehersville. All are invited to share a community service with friends and neighbors.
St. Peter’s West Penn
The worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday. Easter flower orders are due at that time. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m. The confirmation class meets at 10:30 a.m. Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.
The Lenten service will be held at Ben Salem Church at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
On April 3, the Cherub and Bell choirs will rehearse at 6 p.m., and the Senior Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.
The 9 a.m. April 6 worship service will have the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Zion Lewistown
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 20 with 28 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Ah, ‘Tis Spring.” Two members were added to the sick list.
The group chanced off Easter basket items, which were won by a member.
The group was warned about scams including winning the lottery and health insurance scams.
Dues must be paid by April 17 in order to vote in the election of officers. The Christmas and anniversary dinners will be catered by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. The anniversary dinner is scheduled for noon May 22. Bingo and cards were played and the meeting closed.
The seniors meet at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on March 25 with 37 members present.
President Robert Neifert opened the meeting. One member was added to the sick list. The invocation, “Morning Prayer,” was read. One member gave white crosses to every member.
The group chanced off Easter flowers with candy that were donated by two members. One member won the prize.
Dues are to be paid by the end of May. Refreshments were served. Bingo was played.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. April 8 at Christ Church in Barnesville. New members are welcome.
Spring luncheon
A “Hop Into Spring” luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 15 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg.
The speaker will be Nancy Williams of Ohio. Special music will be provided by Joe Oliver of Cressona.
The event is sponsored by Schuylkill Women’s Connection. Men are welcome. There is a fee. Reservations can be made by calling Michelle at 570-617-3896 or Sue at 570-617-9490.
