State police at Hazleton - crashes
State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a crash at 6:29 p.m. March 8 on Route 924 in Hazle Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Joshua J. Grebey, 33, of Hazle Township, was operating a 2002 Ford F-250 eastbound when it failed to stop and hit a 2012 Ford F-150 operated by Michael A. Gambone, 44, of Barnesville.
Police said both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
• Thomas J. Samec, 79, of Tresckow, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 11:23 a.m. March 3 on Oak Street in Tresckow.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, for an evaluation.
Samec was driving a 2022 Ford Bronco eastbound when it left the road and hit a drainage ditch and concrete culvert before overturning onto its right side. The Bronco was towed from the scene.
Samec was cited after the crash, according to police.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:59 p.m. Feb. 15 on Interstate 80 in Sugarloaf Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Russell D. Franconeri, 21, of Weatherly, was driving a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria eastbound and traveling too fast for conditions, causing him to lose control.
They said the car slid counterclockwise into the left lane and was hit by a 2014 Mazda driven by Emily E. Gossner, 19, of Nazareth, who was unable to avoid the collision.
Police said Franconeri’s car came to an uncontrolled stop, while the Mazda slid off the road and went down an embankment, hitting a tree.
The Mazda was towed from the scene.
Franconeri was cited after the crash, according to police.
