Franklin Township Supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action last week:

• Approved assistant secretary Francesca Pope to the Teamsters #773 Union.

• Denied holding a hearing date for the proposed Cable Franchise Agreement between the township and Blue Ridge Cable Technologies Inc.

• Denied a waiver request from Jude Colwell regarding the requirement of the stormwater management ordinance for the proposed Kulig residence on Green Street.

• Approved the Franklin Township Athletic Association’s request to hold 2025 monthly meetings at the township administration office.

• Approved fishing events at Phifer’s Ice Dam Park: Franklin Township Lions Club, May 3, Pohopoco Rod & Gun Club, May 10, and Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club, May 17.

• Approved fishing at the two primary Phifer Ice Dams beginning at midnight May 1 and ending at noon June 1 be limited to those under the age of 16.

• Approved the request from Palmerton borough for Franklin Township’s fire police to assist with traffic control from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. May 3 for the Airing of the Quilts, and at 7:30 a.m. May 10 for the Raising the House 5K Race.

• Agreed to purchase 87 Octane No/Lead gasoline at Frank’s Service Center.

• Announced that the E-cycling event will be held from 9-11 a.m. April 5 at the parking lot where the recycling center was located.

• Garbage will be collected on April 17 instead of Good Friday.
